For Immediate Release: September 18, 2024 <h2>Teamsters Against Trump Escalates Grassroots Campaign Following Endorsement Announcement</h2>The national union announced today it will issue no endorsement in the Presidential election; members are expanding a grassroots effort to keep Trump out of office WASHINGTON, D.C. –&nbsp;Following today’s announcement by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters that the union would not be endorsing a candidate for President in the 2024 election, <a href="https://www.teamstersagainsttrump.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Teamsters Against Trump</a>, a grassroots movement of Teamster members and retirees, announced they will be expanding a grassroots campaign to elect Vice President Kamala Harris.&nbsp; The following quote responding to the endorsement can be attributed to James Larkin, a member of Teamsters Local 299 out of Detroit who has been supporting the Teamsters Against Trump effort: “When it comes to my vote for President, as a proud Teamster there’s no contest. Donald Trump doesn’t give a damn about the working class. As President, Trump didn’t lift a finger to help Teamsters whose pensions were in danger. Instead, he installed his billionaire friends in the White House and did everything he could to stop workers from organizing into unions.” “Kamala Harris cast the tie-breaking vote to save our pensions and has consistently stood up for better pay and safer conditions in the workplace. Harris doesn’t just talk the talk - she walks the walk. I’m proud to support Kamala Harris for President, and I pledge to spend the next 48 days organizing with my fellow Teamsters to get out the vote for Kamala and stop Trump from getting close to the White House ever again.” Teamsters Against Trump was launched in August to deny Trump a second term.
